Position Summary We are seeking an experienced
Senior Water Resource Engineer
in Seattle to support transportation projects throughout the Pacific Northwest. The role focuses on stormwater and fish passage design, contributing to the design, permitting, and construction of transportation infrastructure.
Position Responsibilities Support roadway and transit improvements, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, site development, fish passage, and ecological restoration projects. Perform stormwater design, analysis, and reporting for roadways, bridges, airports, and related transportation infrastructure. Provide detailed engineering calculations for stormwater and fish passage facilities. Create hydrologic and hydraulic models. Design water resources systems and conduct hydraulic analysis for stream crossings, fish passage, and scour. Apply local, state, and federal fish passage and stormwater management design standards. Develop stormwater, stream, and conveyance designs with grading in AutoCAD Civil 3D using 3D surfaces and pipe networks. Interface with clients and public agencies as needed. Coordinate with teammates to ensure proper and timely execution of projects. Work effectively in a flexible, team‑oriented environment.
Minimum Qualifications 7+ years of experience designing, planning, and implementing stormwater and hydraulic elements on transportation projects. Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with Engineering in Training certification. Experience designing stormwater conveyance, flow control, water quality treatment, and low‑impact development BMPs. Project experience with fish passage design, including hydraulic modeling, culvert design, stream restoration, and related civil design. Familiarity with Washington State stormwater design manuals, WSDOT manuals, and WDFW crossing guidelines. Proficiency in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (MGSFlood, WWHM, Stormshed 3G, HEC‑RAS). H&H design calculation experience: conveyance sizing, basin hydrology, culvert sizing, scour calculations. Experience creating construction plan sets, specifications, and cost estimates. Working proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D. Strong communication skills for coordination with clients and team members. High ethical standards and a professional image.
Physical Demands Primarily office‑setting duties, requiring prolonged sitting at a desk or computer. Occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs. Field inspections involving walking, standing, kneeling, and navigating uneven terrain. Travel to project sites or client meetings, possibly by driving or flying.
Compensation Base salary ranges from $120,000 to $150,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and skills. Performance‑based bonuses are also available.
