The **Chief Financial Officer (CFO)** leads the financial strategy, planning, reporting, and operations of the clinic. Working in partnership with the CEO and senior leadership, the CFO ensures financial health, compliance, operational efficiency, and supports the organization's strategic growth. This role blends **strategic leadership and tactical oversight**, balancing long‑term financial planning with day‑to‑day management of accounting, budgeting, reimbursement, and risk management. Controller / Accounting Manager Billing & Revenue Cycle Manager Finance, Grants, and Compliance staff May oversee IT, systems, or contracting staff (depending on structure) Supervisory Responsibilities

Hire, train, evaluate, and develop finance team members. Assign and oversee key financial projects and initiatives. Ensure adherence to financial policies, internal controls, and compliance standards. Foster collaboration across departments to align financial and operational goals. Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the clinic's mission, growth objectives, and risk appetite. Advise senior leadership on investments, new services, and capital projects. Lead financial forecasting, scenario planning, and long‑term financial modeling. Prepare and present financial reports, dashboards, and projections for board and executive review. Budgeting & Financial Planning

Lead the annual operating and capital budgeting process. Monitor budget performance and recommend corrective actions. Conduct "what-if" analyses, cost‑benefit studies, and resource allocation reviews. Accounting, Reporting & Compliance

Ensure timely, accurate, GAAP‑compliant financial statements and reports. Oversee general ledger, A/P, A/R, fixed assets, and journal entries. Maintain strong internal controls and asset safeguards. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (Medicare, Medicaid, third‑party payers, grants). Manage tax filings, external reporting, and audit processes. Revenue Cycle & Payer Management

Oversee billing, coding, claims, collections, and denials management. Analyze and negotiate payer contracts and reimbursement rates. Track key financial metrics: AR days, denial rates, cash collections, payer mix. Cash Flow & Treasury

Manage working capital, liquidity, and banking relationships. Oversee debt, leases, and investment of reserves. Maintain appropriate cash reserves and contingency planning. Risk, Audit & Insurance

Lead internal/external audits and manage auditor relationships. Oversee insurance programs (liability, malpractice, property, cyber). Identify and mitigate financial risks and regulatory exposures. Operational Collaboration

Partner with clinical operations, HR, IT, and compliance to ensure financial alignment. Support new service lines, acquisitions, and capital projects with due diligence and ROI analyses. Drive process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency initiatives. Ad Hoc / Special Projects

Conduct financial feasibility studies and support strategic initiatives (e.g., telehealth, new service expansions). Provide financial leadership in organizational scaling and change management. Education, Certifications & Licensure

**Bachelor's degree** in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (required). **Master's degree** (MBA, MHA) or professional designation such as **CPA, CMA, or CGMA** preferred. **Certification in Healthcare Finance** (HFMA, CHFP) strongly preferred. Commitment to continuing education in healthcare finance, reimbursement, and compliance. Experience

Required

Minimum **10+ years of progressive finance experience**, with at least **5 years in senior leadership**. Proven success in **healthcare, nonprofit, hospital, or clinic environments**. Strong background in **reimbursement, payer contracting, and financial reporting**. Experience leading teams, managing audits, and driving cross-functional collaboration. Preferred

Experience in scaling or managing organizational growth (e.g., mergers, acquisitions, service expansion). Experience with **grants, philanthropy, or public/private funding sources**. Hands‑on experience in **revenue cycle and payer negotiation**. Proficiency with **ERP and financial/billing systems**. Required Skills & Abilities

Strategic financial planning and data‑driven decision‑making. Advanced knowledge of GAAP, audits, and internal controls. Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills. Expertise in healthcare reimbursement and compliance. Ability to translate complex financial data for non‑financial audiences. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and ERP systems.
