Responsibilities
Classify, code, post, and balance financial accounting documents.
Process purchase and travel vouchers using the accounts payable system.
Prepare and validate journal vouchers and other accounting documents.
Audit and reconcile payment vouchers, bank statements, credit card statements, and appropriation balances.
Verify agency asset protection by reviewing accounting records.
Research, analyze, and resolve payment discrepancies.
Track invoices to ensure timely payments.
Recommend improvements to accounting systems and procedures.
Attend regularly and observe approved work hours per agency policies.
Perform related work as assigned and may occasionally work evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Qualifications
Four‑year college or university graduate (substitution available).
Two years of full‑time experience in accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preference for four or more years of full‑time experience in the field.
Experience with USAS (Uniform Statewide Accounting System) and TINS (Texas Identification Number System) preferred.
Experience with CAPPS (Centralized Accounting and Payroll/Personnel System) preferred.
Experience working in a military environment preferred.
Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
Background investigation and federal security clearance required.
Compliance with U.S. work‑authorization and E‑Verify requirements.
