Job Purpose The Benefits Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Director of Benefits & HRIS in day-to-day HR operations that include employee onboarding, group benefits programs, benefit plans and enrollments along with administering workers’ compensation claims and the company wellness program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide support to employees with any benefits‑related questions or concerns.
Support in daily processing of benefits transactions such as enrollments, COBRA, terminations, benefit continuation, qualifying life events, beneficiaries, accident and death claims, rollovers, and distributions.
Monitor the company’s benefit portal.
Assist all new hires in monthly benefit enrollment, distribute materials for benefits orientation, and open enrollment period.
Assist in reviewing and distributing benefits materials, summary plan descriptions (SPDs), and compliance documentation.
Serve as contact for brokers, carriers, and third‑party plan administrators.
Assist with benefit related invoices and reconciliation.
Administer company’s wellness program.
Process and administer all Workers’ Compensation injuries and documentation.
Document and maintain administrative procedures of benefits processes.
Process I‑9s and E‑Verify for all new employees.
Additional projects and/or responsibilities as assigned.
Completes and audits weekly new hire and termination reports.
Assist with HRIS projects, tracking, and audits.
Serve as a back‑up to the Talent Acquisition Business Partner.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to communicate benefit programs to all levels of the organization.
Strong organizational, analytical and multi‑tasking skills required.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
Capability of effective planning and priority setting.
Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on proposals.
Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA and FMLA.
Ability to identify trends and provide solutions to enhance plan performance and satisfaction.
Ability to project manage.
Ability to manage contracted vendors.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or human resources is a plus.
Required 1–2 year(s) experience within an HR environment with direct hands on experience in workers’ compensation, benefits, and wellness.
