What You'll Do This role will support the 2D graphics development within the Global Visual Merchandising team, reporting to the Senior Art Director – Brand 2D. Our team is focused on translating new product launches and creative campaigns into physical spaces and customer experiences, as well as directing the evolution of seasonal graphics and evergreen design systems within the brand's global retail environment, and cascading direction to regional teams for execution. The Art Director – Global 2D VM (temp‑perm) will be responsible for a mix of creative graphic design, evolving and updating design systems, development of guidelines defining creative direction and design of associated documents, and print production. We are a tight‑knit, highly capable and well‑respected team, working in a fast paced and sometimes high volume environment. We value collaboration and collegiality as much as intelligence and skill. What You’ll Be Working On
Contribute to the development of Visual Merchandising graphic work that is aligned with our forward‑thinking brand goals and consistently elevates our in‑store presence
Partner with the SAD and Global 3D VM team to ensure that fixture and environmental 2D graphics are on‑brand, communicate clearly and look great
In partnership with the SAD, support the development of Global 2D VM guidelines, identifying and communicating design direction, usage case directives, execution and production standards and expectations, as well as designing the guidelines documents to brand standards
In partnership with the SAD, support graphic development for events and dedicated animation spaces and create directives for global implementation
Contribute to creative and visual development as the brand continues its evolution
Turn around layouts and other assets quickly and efficiently, with keen attention to detail and quality of execution
Organize and prepare 2D VM design files for final release to regional partners
Must Haves
Minimum 3 years experience working in a VM 2D design or related creative role (mid to senior level designers will be considered)
Beauty background strongly preferred, particularly prestige/luxury
Degree preferred (BA/BFA degree in Graphic Design or Environmental Design) or commensurate work experience in 2D design for visual merchandising, visual display, experience design, or related areas
Highly skilled in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
Strong portfolio, strong print design and print production background, particularly in large formats
Strong understanding of composition and layout principles and messaging hierarchies
Strong understanding of branding and graphic storytelling within the retail environment
Understanding of 3D dimensional structures and spaces, and how 2D graphics relate to 3D fixtures, environments and executions
Understanding of retailer and vendor specifications, technical drawings and planograms
Understanding of design systems and able to articulate the nuances of design systems through explanatory guidelines
High taste level with a sharp eye for detail and quality execution
Flexible, nimble and comfortable working in a fast‑paced and sometimes high‑volume environment
Able to gracefully receive feedback from creative team as well as multiple cross‑functional partners, interpret it and apply it to the work
Strong time management skills, able to juggle multiple projects and priorities, manage project timelines (with help from team PM) and meet deadlines
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Able to work both independently and collaboratively
Strong communication skills with ability to articulate ideas clearly and concisely
Awareness of current visual, industry and cultural trends
Passionate and engaged in the work and industry
Comfortable working in MS Office/Teams/Zoom/Asana
Comfortable remotely working, communicating and presenting
Willing and able to work out of the Midtown Manhattan NYC office as needed
Experience with 3D software (Rhino, Keyshot, SketchUp) a plus but not required
Experience with image retouching a plus but not required
Experience with video editing & production a plus but not required
Salary Range $100,000—$120,000 USD
