Prime Finance Special Situations (“SPS”) Based in Chicago, SPS invests across the capital stack with an emphasis on dislocated capital structures backed by commercial real estate across the U.S. SPS originates customized solutions, including stretch senior, subordinate, and mezzanine loans, participation debt and preferred equity, and opportunistic rescue capital. The strategy also acquires sub‑ or non‑performing debt and debt‑like instruments in the secondary market.
Job Summary The Analyst position supports the Special Situations team through all aspects of the investment and asset‑management process. Key responsibilities include research, analysis, underwriting, and monitoring of real estate‑related opportunities. The Analyst will also play a critical role in due diligence, closing, and subsequent asset management of Prime’s Special Situations investments.
Essential Functions
Assist the Team with investment opportunity review, due diligence, closing, and investment management/business‑plan execution.
Participate in structuring opportunities by evaluating investment merits and risks through financial metrics, models, and sensitivities.
Coordinate with third‑party vendors for due diligence, data collection, and credit/underwriting review.
Prepare comprehensive investment‑committee materials and communicate risks to senior management during portfolio reviews.
Support interactions with Legal, Capital Markets, Accounting, and Compliance as needed.
Create asset‑management reports to monitor property operations and support proactive risk mitigation.
Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
0 to 1 year of relevant experience, including internship experience.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, real estate, economics, or related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with commercial real‑estate valuation, credit underwriting, and market analysis preferred.
Familiarity with office, multifamily, retail, and lodging property types.
Exceptional financial modeling skills in Excel (Argus proficiency preferred).
Proficiency in industry research resources and data organization.
Understanding of real‑estate project operations (revenue, expenses, capex, tenant credit, lease structures, etc.).
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and execute responsibilities independently.
Desire to join an entrepreneurial team and grow within the Special Situations platform.
Problem‑solving attitude and collaborative team player.
The expected salary for this role is $90,000 - $130,000.
Actual compensation will consider experience, skills, internal peers, and geographic location, and may include discretionary annual bonus and a variety of benefits.
