Qualifications

Completion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline

At least 10 years of directly related experience

Advanced knowledge of related engineering standards, techniques, and criteria

Excellent communication skills to comprehend and convey detailed technical data

Develop network and maintain good interpersonal relationships; work collaboratively within a team environment

Advanced problem identification and resolution skills

Displays leadership characteristics and mentors less experienced team members

Exhibits questioning attitude and practices self‑checking

Advanced level of specific software tools (CAD, FEA, CFD) and programming skills

Additional Skills

Familiarity with ACI 318/349 and AISC Steel Construction Manual

Civil/structural analysis, including familiarity with software tools such as ANSYS, GT STRUDL, or SASSI

Strong technical problem‑solving abilities

Familiarity with seismic analyses and methods of determining seismic loading

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Job Purpose This full‑time role is about making an impact on people’s lives and the future of clean energy. You will leverage your skills and experience to be part of an innovative team and make a difference for our customers. As an Advisory Civil Structural Engineer in Lynchburg, VA, you will perform a wide variety of analyses for concrete and structural steel components: floor loading, anchorage analysis, transportation loadings on underground commodities, seismic analyses of fuel handling equipment and piping, and pipe support analysis. These analyses and evaluations can be hand calculations when applicable or detailed finite‑element analysis when necessary. You will also mentor early‑career engineers and travel occasionally.

Total Rewards The base salary for this position ranges from $130,000 to $176,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses, and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline and individual total compensation will vary based on qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
