Salary Range : $35,984.00 - $62,971.00
Management Preference
Documented knowledge in sanitation, preparing menus, managing inventory, and/or other large scale food service production activities.
Effective July 1, 2025, candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The knowledge, skills, and abilities listed in the vacancy announcement should be used as management preferences and be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.
Duties
This position is located at Orange Correctional Center, Hillsborough NC which houses approximately 200 male offenders. The individual assigned to this position will directly report to Associate Warden of Operations. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of food service duties and supervision of staff and offenders:
Employees in this class are responsible for supervision of Correctional Food Service Officers and providing oversight of offender performing large -scale food production at minimum custody prison facilities.
The work involves the supervision of the preparation and service of regular and therapeutic diets for the offender population. Employees plan, direct, and supervise the daily preparation and serving of food to offenders.
Work includes food preparation and serving, storage, menu planning, menu planning using substitutions, maintaining sanitation requirements, and related recordkeeping.
Employees use computerized food and nutrition systems to prepare and serve daily meal.
Documented experience in sanitation, preparing menus, managing inventory, and/or other large-scale food service production activities.
Documented supervision of employees and/or offender workers.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.
