The Musco Risk Management team has an opening for a
Field Safety Coordinator
at our Oskaloosa office. In this role, you will develop, implement, and coordinate programs, processes, and procedures to promote a safe working environment for field‑related operations. These areas include mobile lighting projects, project management, and field services.
Essential Criteria
A Bachelor’s Degree and three years of safety experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Successful experience creating and implementing policies and projects.
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks.
Ability to work with a variety of people, both within Musco and outside the company.
Experience facilitating training sessions, group meetings, and processes.
Previous experience with worker’s compensation and incident investigation.
Ability to lead others without direct supervisory responsibilities; ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work in aerial lifts at the top of lighting poles or climb lighting poles or towers.
Knowledge of electrical equipment and safe practices.
Knowledge of fall protection and pole climbing equipment and techniques.
Strong computer skills & knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
Must pass a pre‑employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
Moderate travel to project sites required.
Some on‑call and weekend work required.
Must be willing to carry and respond to a company cell phone.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Innovative problem‑solving with a team‑oriented mindset.
Familiarity with Musco solutions is a plus.
Roles and Responsibilities
Promote a proactive safety culture, which builds rapport and creates value for all field‑related Team Members.
Assist with developing safety plans and goals for field-related activities.
Travel to various projects throughout the year to provide safety direction, review safety performance, and help identify and correct any safety-related concerns.
Create, coordinate, and deliver a forward-thinking safety training plan to develop an education base that instills a situation awareness to recognize and mitigate hazards.
Provide support to field-related work, such as Site‑Specific Safety Plans, Fall Protection Work Plan, Work Site Evaluation, and other safety-related documentation.
Review project documentation for scope and requirements to ensure the appropriate resources are available to meet project needs.
Assist with incident investigation and reporting (case management, assemble and lead incident investigation team, safety reports to leadership, and root cause analysis).
Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards, government regulations, and customer requirements.
Conduct / coordinate any industrial hygiene testing. Review all new chemicals for safety concerns and maintain the SDS Database.
