Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Manager to join our dynamic finance team. This critical role will oversee key financial operations and provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision‑making. The ideal candidate will have deep financial management expertise and a willingness to learn, with a preferred background in health insurance.
Work Arrangement Hybrid (4 days in‑office, 1 day work‑from‑home)
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A):
Primary contributor to annual budgeting and forecasting, collaborating with the Director of Finance.
Develop and maintain robust 5‑year financial models for strategic initiatives.
Participate in capital adequacy planning (RBC, BCAR).
Analyze claims trends, utilization, and revenue streams to identify improvement opportunities.
Assess impact of quality improvement initiatives on profitability and MLR.
Prepare financial reports and presentations for senior management.
Financial Reporting & Internal Metrics:
Accurate reporting of key metrics: premiums, claims, IBNR, administrative expenses.
Calculate and analyze MLR against ACA requirements and internal targets.
Support regulatory filings and audits with data and explanations.
Stay updated on statutory accounting changes and healthcare regulations.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement:
Supervise and mentor junior finance staff.
Implement process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
Ensure strong internal controls across all financial processes.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience: 5+ years in finance or accounting with complex forecasting and modeling.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in US GAAP.
Expert Excel modeling skills.
Experience with financial reporting software and ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Workday).
Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
Industry Knowledge: Willingness to rapidly learn health insurance operations, including claims processing, underwriting, MLR calculations, and reserving.
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast‑paced environments.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA, CFA, or MBA.
2–3 years specifically within the health insurance industry.
Experience with a publicly traded company.
Big 4 public accounting background.
Prior leadership or supervisory experience.
