About the Role
We are seeking a
Union Payroll Specialist
to manage and process multi-state, multi-union payroll operations with accuracy and attention to detail. This position plays a critical role in ensuring all employees are paid correctly and on time while maintaining compliance with union contracts, wage determinations, and reporting requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll for union and non-bargained employees, ensuring accuracy in hours, rates, and fringe benefits.
Calculate and remit
union dues, benefit contributions, and fringe benefit reports
in accordance with multiple collective bargaining agreements (CBAs).
Maintain and reconcile
certified payroll reports
for public projects and prevailing wage compliance.
Manage
deductions , garnishments, taxes, and other withholdings in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Track
employee classifications, local codes, and pay scales
per union agreements.
Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data integrity across HRIS and accounting systems.
Support year-end reporting, including
W-2s, 1099s, and benefit reconciliations.
Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Operations teams to streamline payroll workflows and ensure compliance.
Qualifications
5+ years of payroll experience , preferably in a
union or construction industry
setting.
Strong understanding of
collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) , union dues, fringe benefits, and certified payroll reporting.
Experience with
multi-state payroll
and various union locals a plus.
Proficiency in payroll systems such as
T-Sheets and Plexxis
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
Strong working knowledge of
Excel
and payroll reporting functions.
Confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee data.
Preferred Skills
Experience with
prevailing wage reporting, certified payroll, and job cost allocation.
Knowledge of
construction payroll practices.
Familiarity with
union fringe benefits administration
(health, pension, vacation, apprenticeship funds, etc.).
