About the job Payroll Specialist
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This position requires a strong attention to detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with Human Resources, Finance, and other departments to provide high-quality service and support to employees.
Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll for all employees accurately and on schedule using payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, Kronos, or similar platforms).
Review and verify timesheets, wage computation, and other information to detect and resolve payroll discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information in HRIS and payroll systems.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and procedures.
Prepare payroll reports for management, finance, and auditing purposes.
Assist with year-end processing, including W-2s and other tax forms.
Collaborate with HR on employee changes impacting payroll, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, and leaves of absence.
Ensure confidentiality and security of payroll data at all times.
Stay up-to-date with changes in payroll laws and regulations.
Qualifications:
Associate or Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
2+ years of experience in payroll processing or a related function.
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday, Kronos, or similar).
Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and compliance requirements.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Hourly Pay Rate
$25.00 -$45.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and location.
