About the Role
We’re representing a growing
Texas-based General Contractor
seeking a
Controller
to lead their accounting operations and serve as a key strategic finance partner to senior leadership. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee the financial close, reporting, and WIP process, while helping scale systems, teams, and controls as the business continues to grow. The ideal person brings both the
technical strength of a Controller
and the
strategic mindset of a future CFO .
What You’ll Do Oversee full-cycle accounting including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger. Lead month-end and quarter-end close, delivering accurate financial reporting. Manage
WIP / job cost accounting
and
AIA billing
processes. Optimize
Sage Intacct
for both project-level and corporate reporting. Implement strong financial controls, policies, and systems. Partner with project managers and executives to support profitability and cash flow. Drive budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Build and mentor a high-performing accounting team. Coordinate audits, tax filings, and external financial reporting.
What We’re Looking For 7+ years’ experience
in construction accounting or finance. Bachelor’s degree
in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA/CMA/CCIFP preferred). Proven knowledge of
WIP / job costing
and
AIA billing . Proficiency in
Sage Intacct
(non-negotiable). Hands-on leader comfortable with scaling systems and teams. Strong communicator with an analytical and proactive approach. Ambition to step into an
executive finance leadership path
as the company grows.
