Senior Actuarial Analyst/Associate Actuary

Zurich North America is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst or Associate Actuary for our Captive Pricing team, ideally based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois or one of Zurich’s offices nationwide. This role will support actuarial and underwriting leaders and be responsible for the pricing of Captive accounts. The Senior Actuarial Analyst/Associate Actuary and the team will partner with Captives Underwriting teams, Line of Business Pricing, Reserving, and Data Analytics to ensure optimal outcomes for the Captives portfolio. This will include individual account pricing and portfolio performance analysis. This position reports to the VP & Actuarial Director for Captives. This role will be filled at the level of the hiring manager’s discretion based on years of experience and credentials.

Responsibilities

Coordinate, prepare, and perform actuarial analyses related to the pricing of individual captives.

Develop and deliver actionable insights and associated actions for improvement for individual captives.

Support Market Facing Underwriters on pricing decisions and development of effective premium/rating structure and strategies in support of business objectives.

Perform analysis related to understanding profit drivers on portfolio and book segments and communicate insights as needed.

Analyze and assess underwriting and reserving methodology and approaches.

Analyze related to understanding profit drivers on portfolio segments and communicate insights as needed.

Basic Qualifications

Senior Actuarial Analyst: Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree OR Bachelor’s Degree AND successful completion of 5+ actuarial exams (applicable to FCAS designation or equivalent international certification) with 2+ years of actuarial experience OR successful completion of 3+ actuarial exams with 3+ years of actuarial experience.

Associate Actuary: Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 5+ years of actuarial experience AND FCAS or equivalent certification OR Bachelor’s Degree and 10+ years of actuarial experience AND ACAS or equivalent certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Commercial Property & Casualty insurance experience.

Middle Market/Multi-line experience.

History of successful collaboration across actuarial and multi-functional teams.

Advanced communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with individuals at various levels and with both technical and non-technical backgrounds.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel); experience with SQL, R, and VBA.

Ability to exercise independent judgment and make critical business decisions based on data analyses.

Knowledge of actuarial technique and standards.

Compensation and Benefits Compensation is influenced by location, role, skill set, and experience. Zurich commits to providing a fair and reasonable compensation range. The combined salary range for this position is $74,300.00 - $161,000.00. The proposed salary range for the Senior Actuarial Analyst is $74,300.00 - $121,700.00, with 10% short-term incentive eligibility. The proposed salary range for the Associate Actuary is $98,300.00 - $161,000.00, with 15% short-term incentive eligibility.
