Position Summary What you'll do
Join the Indirect Procurement Tech (IPT) team as a data scientist and be part of a dynamic group that develops and supports platforms and systems that facilitate indirect procurement for all Walmart facilities worldwide. As a member of this team, you'll use cutting-edge data science techniques to identify and solve complex business problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement and scale your solutions. You'll have the opportunity to work with large datasets, develop custom analytical models using machine learning and deep learning techniques, and fine-tune object detection/segmentation models from scratch. With your masters degree in a related field and at least two years of experience in analytics, you'll bring the skills and knowledge necessary to make a significant impact on Walmart's procurement processes. About Team: The position is part of the Indirect Procurement Tech (IPT) team. We have primary responsibility for development and support of the platforms and systems that facilitate indirect procurement (goods not for resale) in all Walmart facilities, both domestically and internationally.
What You'll Do
Develop and deploy custom analytical models using techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, and statistical inference
Conduct exploratory data analysis and perform trend and cluster analysis on large datasets
Identify and solve complex business problems using data-driven solutions
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement and scale analytical models
Write code to develop and test solutions using recommended programming languages and frameworks
What You'll Bring
Masters degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
4 years of experience in analytics or related field
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and C++
Experience with version control, containers, VMs, and OpenCV techniques
Strong understanding of data science techniques such as multi-dimensional regression, SVMs, KNN, PCA, and clustering techniques
Experience building and scaling CNNs, fine-tuning models like YOLO and R-CNN for image context, and developing custom object detection/segmentation models from scratch
Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, and PyTorch
Experience with data analysis using libraries like scipy, scikit, matplotlib, seaborn, pandas
Ability to work with REST APIs, server-client architecture, and Flask, FastAPI, and communication protocols to handle large volumes of images.
