Base pay range $75,000.00/yr – $125,000.00/yr

A nationally recognized boutique law firm is seeking a highly organized, detail‑oriented, and emotionally intelligent Human Resources Generalist to join its growing team. The role supports the entire employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll coordination, and compliance. Working closely with the Executive Director and Controller, the HR Coordinator will be the go‑to resource for day‑to‑day HR operations and will have a front‑row seat to the firm’s dynamic culture and rapid growth.

Human Resources Generalist Responsibilities

Manage full‑cycle recruitment process, including job postings, vendor coordination, screening, scheduling, and offer logistics.

Conduct phone interviews, reference checks, and background screenings.

Coordinate onboarding, I‑9 processing, new hire paperwork, policy acknowledgements, and welcome correspondence.

Facilitate orientation and initiate internal conflict checks for new hires.

Collaborate with accounting to process semi‑monthly payroll and manage timecards.

Assist with enrollments, changes, terminations, open enrollment, and benefits‑related questions.

Ensure accurate benefit records.

Audit HR data for compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.

Maintain personnel files and HRIS.

Support implementation of firm policies, procedures, and internal audits.

Partner with leadership on compliance, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Assist in preparing HR reports, analytics, and internal communication.

Human Resources Generalist Requirements

2–5 years of HR experience in a law firm or similar professional services setting.

Open to strong HR Generalist candidates from professional industries or Legal Assistants/Paralegals who want to transition into HR.

At least 1 year of recruiting experience.

Experience supporting payroll and understanding state‑specific, especially CA, payroll nuances.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with BambooHR, ADP, and HRIS systems strongly preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred; experience will be considered in lieu.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to maintain discretion in sensitive situations.

Extremely organized with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and stakeholders.
