Associate Dean, San Diego Miramar College (San Diego Community College District). Academic position within Advanced Transportation Technology (ATTI). FLSA Exempt; exempt from overtime. Position duration: 12 months; 1.0 FTE. Pay information and benefits as described below.
Pay Information Range 4 ($9,311.28 – $15,167.09) per month, based on the 2023 Management Salary Schedule. Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. Fringe benefits include employer-paid medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development.

Position Summary The Associate Dean/Strong Workforce Director will supervise all operational functions of the Strong Workforce Program, Perkins, and other Career Education (CE) grants and projects. This includes development and management of annual work-plans, budgets and related expenditures; preparation of reports in accordance with regional, state and federal requirements; evaluation of SWP program performance (enrollment, completion, transfer and employment outcomes); development of web-based systems to collect and monitor SWP metrics; collaboration with CE faculty to develop new curriculum and programs; marketing and outreach; coordination of industry advisory activities; participation in local, regional, and statewide workforce development activities; aligning the Strong Workforce Plan with the College’s strategic goals and the Student Equity Plan to optimize resource use for student success. This position oversees all aspects of apprenticeships, work experience, and work-based learning, and integrates career services across instructional programs and student service areas.
Major Responsibilities
Supervise all operational functions of the Strong Workforce Program, Perkins, and other CE grants and projects; develop/manage annual work-plans and budgets; prepare related reports.
Evaluate SWP program performance in enrollment, completion, transfer, and employment outcomes.
Oversee development of web-based systems to track SWP metrics across instructional programs and services.
Work with CE faculty to develop new curriculum and programs in new and emerging occupational areas.
Assist with marketing and outreach; coordinate industry advisory activities; participate in workforce development activities.
Align the Strong Workforce Plan with the College's strategic goals and the Student Equity Plan to maximize student success.
Oversee apprenticeships, work experience, and work-based learning; integrate career services across instructional programs and student service areas.
Supervise career services faculty and staff; coordinate with Instructional and Student Service administration to align academic and student services.
Provide joint professional development to enhance integration of career services; develop a coordinated student employment and outcome tracking system.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS In compliance with policies adopted by the Board of Trustees, applicants must show evidence of the following minimum qualifications:
Possession of a Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution AND one (1) year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's assignment; OR
Possession of a lifetime California Community College Supervisor Credential.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated knowledge, experience and success coordinating Career Education (CE) programs and related economic and workforce development projects and activities.
Experience in managing grant-funded programs including grant metric evaluations, fiscal/budget development and oversight, and reporting of grant outcomes.
Knowledge and experience in hiring, supervising, evaluating and disciplining faculty and classified staff.
Ability to collaborate with administrators, faculty and staff involved in workforce development initiatives and assist in developing plans.
Ability to collect, retrieve, and interpret data to inform CE programs; collaborate with faculty and staff to assess and document student progress using appropriate data tools.
Experience providing administrative and technical support to career education faculty with program/curriculum development.
Experience directing/implementing career services such as employment readiness, career assessment, internship development and job placement.
Knowledge of database development/implementation; experience with participatory governance; ability to build professional partnerships with industry and community.
Ability to represent San Diego Miramar College in local, regional, state, and community activities related to career technical education and workforce development.
Experience using software and web-based systems to track, report, and present grant outcomes; ability to publicize CE programs to college, district, and external communities.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
