Provide specialized speech-language pathology services in an elementary school setting in New Haven, CT, focusing on supporting students’ communication abilities to enhance educational access and social interaction.
Primary Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive speech, language, voice, and fluency evaluations and screenings.
Interpret assessment results to determine eligibility for services under IDEA.
Develop, implement, and adjust Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to students’ needs.
Deliver direct therapy addressing articulation, expressive/receptive language, social communication, fluency, and related disorders.
Provide indirect services including consultation and collaboration with classroom teachers.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including special educators, occupational and physical therapists, psychologists, and families.
Support classroom staff in adapting communication strategies and train them on effective student interventions.
Maintain thorough documentation such as assessment records, progress notes, and therapy session reports to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
Participate in early intervention and prevention initiatives and promote communication awareness among staff and families.
Recommend and facilitate the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) tools, providing training as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
Certified Speech‑Language Pathologist (SLP) credential required, with Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) preferred.
Experience in school settings serving preschool through high school students.
Skilled in assessment, intervention, and collaboration within educational environments.
Knowledge of IDEA guidelines and compliance standards.
Ability to manage a diverse caseload with various speech and language disorders.
Familiarity with assistive technology applications for communication.
Location: New Haven, CT School Level: Elementary Position Type: Contract, school calendar year (CSY)
