Overview
Director of Nursing (Corona, Queens) role at URBAN HEALTH PLAN, INC. Plaza del Sol Family Health Center is located in Corona, Queens. In preparation for an upcoming expansion of the site, we are seeking a full-time Director of Nursing to join the leadership within our second largest family medicine practice at the Urban Health Plan. Position Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) works with the Medical Director and Operations Director of Plaza del Sol and reports to the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO). The DON engages in planning, directing, and evaluating nursing services within the center. The DON upholds the department\'s philosophy, standards for nursing practice, and the management and development of nursing personnel, including direct supervision of Registered Nurses and LPNs. Provides clinical troubleshooting, guidance, training, and assesses competencies of Medical Assistants. While administrative, training, and compliance duties are essential, we are seeking a hands-on nurse leader who can prepare for an audit and also help when nurses are busy, for example by administering a vaccine.
Key Duties
Participates in the development of overall direction and policies of the health center. Collaborate with Administrative staff and other personnel in planning services for the patients. Direct supervision of nurses, including hiring, onboarding, 1-1 meetings, training, performance management, employee relations, managing payroll/time off. Communicate with CNO and leadership to provide input and guidance on nursing needs in the center. Provide direct supervision to Nursing personnel including RN, LPN, MA and HCSR. Participate in determining resources and support needed for Nursing Dept. and daily operations. Collaborates with the site leadership to promote quality patient care and effective staff relations. Oversight of estimated needs including supplies and equipment and communication of needs to all employees. Participates in the preparation of the emergency contingency plan by specifying the responses of the nursing staff in case of internal or external disaster. Participates in policy decisions that affect patient care services. Provide Quality Management direction and oversight for nursing and ancillary activities. Oversee and control supplies that directly impact patient care (e.g., ordering and charging of stock medications, medical supplies and patient care equipment and/or supplies). Actively participates in Quality Management Committee (QMC) and Nursing team meetings, and ensures that regular monitors are conducted and reported. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. 5 years of clinical nursing experience; 3 to 5 years in administrative/supervisory capacity. Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred. Exemplary communication skills. Fundamental understanding of primary care/ambulatory nursing. Starting Compensation
Minimum $135,000 per annum; Maximum $145,000 per annum. Work Environment, Location, and Schedule
