Director of Nursing (Corona, Queens) – Posted: 10/31/2025
Position Summary:
Plaza del Sol Family Health Center is located in the heart of Corona, Queens. In preparation for an upcoming expansion of the site, we are seeking a full‑time Director of Nursing to join the leadership within our second largest family medicine practice at the Urban Health Plan. The Director of Nursing works hand in hand with our Medical Director and Operations Director under the clinical supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer to plan, direct, and evaluate nursing services. The role involves direct supervision of Registered Nurses, LPNs, and MA staff, providing clinical troubleshooting, training, and competency assessment. While administrative tasks are essential, we seek a hands‑on nurse leader who can manage audits and quickly support frontline care, such as administering vaccines when needed.
Key Duties
Participate in the development of overall direction and policies of the health center.
Collaborate with administrative staff and other personnel in planning services for patients.
Direct supervision of nurses, including hiring, onboarding, 1‑to‑1 meetings, training, performance management, employee relations, and payroll/time‑off management.
Communicate with CNO and leadership to provide input and guidance on nursing needs.
Provide direct supervision to Nursing personnel including RN, LPN, MA, and HCSR.
Determine resources and support needed for the Nursing Department and daily operations.
Collaborate with site leadership to promote quality patient care and effective staff relations.
Oversee supplies and equipment needs, including communication of all employee needs.
Participate in preparation of the emergency contingency plan, specifying nursing staff responses to internal or external disasters.
Participate in policy decisions that affect patient care services.
Provide Quality Management direction and oversight for nursing and ancillary activities.
Oversee and control supplies that directly impact patient care, such as ordering and charging of stock medications and medical supplies.
Actively participate in the Quality Management Committee and Nursing team meetings, ensuring regular monitoring and reporting.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Nursing required.
5 years clinical nursing experience; 3–5 years experience in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
Exemplary communication skills.
Fundamental understanding of primary care/ambulatory nursing.
Starting Compensation Minimum $135,000/annum; Maximum $145,000/annum.
Work Environment Type, Location, and Schedule Onsite, Corona, Queens, NY, Monday to Friday 8:00am‑5:00pm.
