Job Overview
The Intelligent Automation & SAP Architecture Lead plays a pivotal role in driving digital transformation across the Mercedes-Benz NAFTA region. This strategic position is responsible for defining and executing the Robotic Process Automation (RPA) roadmap, leading SAP technical architecture initiatives, and integrating AI-driven solutions to enhance operational efficiency, innovation, and business value. This role requires close collaboration with stakeholders across MBUSA, MBFS, MBUSI and other entities to understand operational challenges, identify high-impact opportunities, and deliver intelligent automation solutions that align with strategic goals. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with hands-on expertise in automation and AI technologies, SAP systems, and project management, capable of aligning IT capabilities with business goals while fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Robotic Process Automation (RPA) – Define and execute the RPA roadmap for the Mercedes-Benz NAFTA region in alignment with MB global automation strategy; serve as the primary point of contact for all automation needs across MBUSA, MBFS, MBUS and other entities.
Identify and prioritize high-impact automation and AI opportunities across business units by engaging stakeholders to understand operational challenges, pain points, and strategic goals.
Facilitate collaborative ideation sessions to generate and evaluate intelligent automation use cases aligned with business value and innovation potential.
Collaborate with Business & IT SMEs across MBUSA to identify and implement business process improvements through Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
Lead the end-to-end delivery of RPA projects, from requirements gathering to deployment. Monitor continuously the efficiency of the solutions and enable real-time reporting.
Define RPA architecture standards, best practices, and governance models. Evaluate and select appropriate RPA tools and technologies.
Ensure compliance with security, audit, and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with Offshore RPA developers to design, test, and deploy automation solutions using tools such as Power Automate and UiPath.
Stay updated on RPA trends and best practices to drive innovation.
SAP Technical Architecture – Strong understanding and hands-on experience in SAP technical space (ABAP/Fiori/PI/PO & BTP) including change/release management and test automation in Logistics and Finance modules.
Provide guidance on SAP upgrades, migrations, and integrations with third-party systems.
Collaborate with SAP Basis, development, and functional teams to ensure scalable and secure SAP solutions.
Understand SAP security and audit requirements, including knowledge of technical controls and compliance frameworks.
Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define solution roadmaps and architecture blueprints.
Drive innovation in SAP using Automation, AI & Data.
Project Management – Successfully lead and deliver end-to-end IT projects across diverse business domains.
Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables; develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocations to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
Risk management, issue resolution, and change control processes throughout the project lifecycle.
Lead cross-functional teams including IT & business SMEs and suppliers.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with stakeholders through regular status updates and reporting.
AI – Lead innovation initiatives that combine SAP, RPA, and AI to drive business transformation with a focus on embedding "AI in Operations".
Work with MBUSA IT Teams & Business stakeholders to align AI solutions with business goals.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and architectural blueprints.
Promote reusability, modularity, and standardization across AI projects.
Maintain understanding of current AI technologies, trends, including ML, NLP and generative AI.
Cross Functions & Governance – Align team objectives with departmental and organizational goals; ensure consistent communication across teams and prepare updates for senior management.
Foster collaboration between different teams within the department; implement and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (accredited school) or equivalent work experience with emphasis on Business Management; Computer/Information Science; Information Technology; Project Management, Finance or Automotive.
Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in the Information Technology field with focus on business applications and processes.
General business knowledge of fundamental practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, efficiency, and process methods.
Knowledge of processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques to achieve maximum efficiency.
Strong analytical thinker with the ability to make strategic decisions; excellent negotiation skills.
Ability to assess the criticality of a problem and initiate corrective action in a timely manner.
Experience in Project Management and Agile Methodologies.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to tailor communication to the audience; strong relationship-building.
Independent working attitude; well-organized with attention to detail.
Proactive, initiative-taking mindset with the ability to lead, moderate and motivate colleagues.
