Overview
We are seeking a Critical Power Solutions Architect to support the design, optimize, and implementation of high-availability electrical infrastructure solutions for mission-critical data centers. This role will help with the bridging of engineering expertise, solution architecture, and client engagement, ensuring that electrical systems meet stringent requirements for reliability, efficiency, and scalability and promoting ABB solutions and technology. The Solutions Architect will collaborate with cross-functional teams—agile/product development, applications, commercial, project management, and client design, engineering and procurement teams—to deliver world-class data center power solutions. This Position reports to: Sales Manager This position will need to be located near Richmond, VA to travel and support customers up to 50% of the time when not working in the Richmond, VA ABB facility. Responsibilities
Implementing proactive promotional activities, including technical presentations, demonstrations, seminars, educational material, and technical development of projects and solutions for the customer target group. Creating plans for target audience visits and conducting regular status reviews, including analyzing and deriving the insights and output of the visits. Review and validate detailed engineering drawings, single-line diagrams, and load calculations. Integrate energy efficiency, sustainability, and ESG requirements into solutions. Conduct risk analysis, failure mode analysis, and reliability assessments. Ensuring efficient marketing activities and strong value proposition to customers by using effective promotional techniques. Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in a relevant industry setting (prior experience with Data Centers, Electrification, Electrical Manufacturing is preferred). Ability to work and learn electrical power distribution, UPS systems, diesel/gas generators, switchgear, PDUs, ATS/STS, and grounding/bonding. Strong understanding of engineering principles applied in an Electrical industry. Strong communication and presentation skills; able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
