In Motion Systems Group and Hydraulic Valve Systems Division, we play a pivotal role in applications that change our world by delivering the best quality, service, and value through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management. The Purchasing Specialist identifies manufacturing needs, selects suppliers, negotiates contracts, and arranges delivery. Purchases critical, complex and/or high dollar parts, equipment, services, and materials. Your Day-to-day Responsibilities Identifies and recommends suppliers by researching parts, equipment, machinery, services, and materials availability. Prepares statements of work for items proposed for procurement. Develops potential bidders lists and formal requests for quotation or proposal. Conducts supplier site visits and evaluates production capability, performance, delivery, and other key criteria. Supports or leads supplier certification surveys as part of a technical and/or quality team. Evaluates proposals from potential suppliers. Selects suppliers for highly complex or technical materials, supplies or services and negotiates price, delivery, quality and service. Develops alternate sources of supply by identifying prospective suppliers. Negotiates final terms and conditions of purchase, administers procurement contracts, and issues purchase orders that reflect negotiated price, schedule, and terms. May include orders with international suppliers and/or subcontractors involving import/export trade. Monitors and evaluates supplier performance. Determines and implements corrective actions to resolve issues that may delay production or delivery. Facilitates inspections, substitutions, and standardization by coordinating with suppliers and company personnel. Negotiates and settles damage claims, rejections, losses, returns of materials, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers. Ensures supplier compliance with company and government or commercial procurement requirements and applicable technical and quality standards. Prepares complex reports and analyses by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Applies continuous improvement techniques to internal processes and systems. Leads or participates in special projects as needed. Maintains professional and technical knowledge through education and networking. Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree (BA) in Business Administration or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically six or more years of related experience with demonstrated ability to perform essential functions. Certificate in Purchasing Management (CPM) or APICS desired. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Thorough knowledge of purchasing and negotiating methods, industry practices, and regulatory requirements related to procurement. Proficient with standard business software and purchasing/materials systems (e.g., EDI, MRP). Strong problem-solving, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to coordinate across multiple teams and manage complex supplier relationships. Typical Mental and Physical Demands

Office environment; ability to sit, use a computer, and communicate clearly. May require standing, walking, and occasional travel. Regular attendance and ability to manage multiple tasks. Conditions of Employment
