Printpack, a leading manufacturer of flexible packaging, is seeking a candidate to fill the position of Maintenance Mechanic in their Converting Plant in Grand Prairie, Tx. The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant equipment to ensure optimal manufacturing operations and minimize equipment downtime. This position requires extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, including gear boxes, couplings, bearings, shop equipment, welding, fabrication, compressors, chillers, blowers, conveyor systems, and piping configurations, while providing technical support to the maintenance team. Usually, direction comes from the Maintenance Manager/Supervisors. Direction can also come from Shift Supervisors as determined by production loss through equipment that is down. This position is a day shift from 7am - 3pm (M-F).
Key Responsibilities:
Perform proactive maintenance and repairs on manufacturing equipment to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency
Execute troubleshooting of mechanical systems to identify root causes and implement effective repair solutions
Use shop equipment, such as welder, mill, lathe, etc, to manufacture, fabricate or repair mechanical components and parts
Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules and work orders
Document all maintenance activities, parts usage, and repairs through computer-based maintenance software
Read and interpret mechanical blueprints for equipment tear-down, rebuilding, and component replacement
Coordinate maintenance activities with shift leadership and provide technical recommendations
Execute rigging and lifting operations of heavy components while following safety protocols
Maintain an inventory & acquisition of spare parts
Support electricians and electronic technicians in cross-functional maintenance activities
Education & Experience: 3 - 4 years of Industrial maintenance mechanic experience
Minimum of 3 years of Industrial plant experience
Experience with preventive maintenance programs
Technical training or apprenticeship in machining preferred
Required Experience: Strong mechanical troubleshooting abilities
Blueprint reading proficiency
Basic fabrication and machining skills
Previous welding experience (MIG, TIG and Stick)
Experience with pneumatic, electrical, hand-held power and precision tools or instruments
Computer literacy for maintenance software
Ability to obtain Forklift and high-lift certification
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
Detail-oriented with strong documentation skills
Strong Decision Making
Additional Requirements: Must be 18 years of age

Physical Demands: The associate will be exposed to the manufacturing environment where hazards and requirements may include but are not limited to: Must be able to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to climb, kneel, bend, stoop, reach and squat
Manual dexterity for tool operation
Visual acuity for detail work
Use of ladders and other equipment
Must be able to wear ARC Flash Apparel/ Equipment
Must be able to work at heights and in small / confined spaces
Position may also require crawling under platforms
Ability to wear respiratory protection as needed
Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)
Travel Requirements: Travel is not required in this position. Work Conditions: The majority of tasks will be performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to: Noise levels above 85 dB

Variable Temperatures
May be required to work flexible shifts
May require nights, weekends, and holidays
