School‑Age Program Staff We are hiring now at all levels for our school‑aged programs. The YMCA's Youth Programs are growing fast, and we are seeking outstanding staff to support our expanding school‑age offerings and grow into leadership roles. Candidates should love to get creative with construction paper and duct tape, be happy to help kids with even the most challenging homework, and always be ready for a game of tag. You will ensure our kiddos are safe, secure, and engaged while teaching our core values of respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring. Help us make a positive difference in the lives of those we serve each day in our programs.

Shift & Hours Program hours: mornings 6:45 am–8:00 am (9:00 am on Wednesdays) and/or 2:30 pm–6:00 pm Monday‑Friday. More hours are available on days when school is out for full‑day camp. We prefer staff to be available at least three consistent days per week, but we are also looking for substitutes. You can choose to do just before school, just after school, or a combination.

Salary & Benefits

Salary range: $16.00–$18.00 per hour, based on experience, availability, and state licensing guidelines. This position is part‑time, year‑round, with opportunities for full‑time summer service.

+10% differential for bilingual staff (Spanish and English).

Responsibilities

Work as part of the site team to ensure a safe and challenging environment for school‑age participants while implementing core values, gym and group games, arts and crafts.

Lead and supervise children in small and large group activities independently.

Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness.

Attend staff meetings and training sessions.

Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child‑abuse prevention, and emergencies.

Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, participants, and community members.

Maintain confidentiality of YMCA issues, incidents, and records.

Be on time for all shifts and remain flexible to accommodate unexpected schedule changes, including full days.

Provide leadership and support to Program Aides and Volunteers.

Practice positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques for participants using natural consequences, in accordance with YMCA policies and expectations.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Age 18 years or older.

Provide documentation of 480 hours of experience working directly with school‑age children in such areas as Sunday school, Scouts, sports, or babysitting.

Certified or supply documentation of current CPR and First Aid certification (can be completed through the YMCA).

Work well on a team, communicate well with youth, parents, and colleagues, and be committed to high‑quality programming.
