Base pay range $90,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Apply economics to business questions by structuring hypotheses and researching problems for leadership.
Analyze observational data, draw conclusions from the latest academic literature, and provide informed advice using neoclassical and behavioral economics.
Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and produce summary statistics.
Analyze data with advanced statistical, mathematical, and econometric techniques to influence business decisions.
Test hypotheses, design experiments, and forecast or predict outcomes using machine learning, AI, causal inference, or structural models for counterfactual analysis.
Develop data pipelines and manipulate, analyze, visualize, and model large datasets using SQL, Python, or R, producing high‑quality production‑grade code.
Communicate analysis and economic concepts verbally and in writing, including data visualizations, to both technical and business audiences.
Collaborate with cross‑functional stakeholders to understand complex business contexts, design experiments, disseminate results, and facilitate product or process changes aligned with economic theory.
Consult on best scientific practices for data analysis and experimentation with analytical teams across the company.
Provide expert guidance on the application of information and best practices, supporting and aligning efforts with customer and business needs.
Build relationships with key stakeholders, identify business needs, and execute necessary processes while monitoring progress and results.
Model compliance with company policies, incorporate ethical standards, and support implementation of business plans that align with the Open Door Policy.
Operate within Bentonville, AR, and serve Walmart’s wide geographic and functional scope.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in economics, math, statistics, engineering, computer science, or related area and at least 2 years of experience using data, statistics, or economics.
OR doctoral degree in economics, math, statistics, engineering, computer science, or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience analyzing large datasets, preferably coding in SQL, R, or Python.
Prior experience assisting with academic research.
