Detox Technician/Behavioral Health Technician (overnight shift needed)

Schedule Friday, Saturday, and Sunday 12:00 am to 8:30 am; Monday and Tuesday 4:00 pm to 12:30 am

Position Summary The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is responsible for assessing client needs and monitoring behavior during the rehab experience. Under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor, the BHT documents activities of daily living, cares for clients, helps coordinate treatment, and executes daily programming. BHTs may assist counselors with crisis management, groups, and education as needed.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

Complete all Behavioral Health Technician duties and/or documentation within Monarch Shores, Chapters Capistrano, and state-mandated timelines.

Conduct client rounds according to state protocols and document appropriately.

Read the communication log at the beginning of shift and complete a summary of tasks by shift end.

Complete new admission intake procedures (UA, belongings searches, and paperwork) per policies.

Document daily progress in client charts; overnight staff document sleep quality and quantity in progress notes.

Administer detoxification protocols (vital signs and rounds) on detox clients.

Provide crisis intervention as needed.

Assist, teach, and/or supervise clients with general household chores.

Monitor client needs and behaviors; interact with clients and families as needed and document interactions.

Continue learning about alcohol and/or drug abuse and the principles of recovery.

Participate in on-site activities, support groups, outings, and community meetings as assigned.

Establish rapport, gather data, and assess readiness for treatment and change.

Screen for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication, and withdrawal symptoms.

Adhere to ethical and professional standards of conduct; participate in continuing professional development.

Maintain facility cleanliness and program upkeep.

Apply principles of communicable disease prevention and control.

Recognize early signs of illness and report needs for professional assistance promptly.

Support access to community services and resources.

Identify individuals under the influence and document as needed in logs or incident reports.

Respond to emergencies and take appropriate action; follow HIPAA regulations.

Be awake during all shifts; attend staff meetings and trainings.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Preferences

Experience, knowledge, or interest in chemical dependency and abuse.

Valid Driver’s License.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations.

Current CPR & First Aid Certification.
