Position Summary: Full-time temporary position available on or after December 1, 2025 for Athletic Communications. Appointment will be made for one year from date of hire with the possibility of reappointment and/or becoming permanent based on budget, department needs, and job performance. Develop and implement sports information and media relations programs of moderate scope and complexity. Serve as a media liaison, coordinate press conferences and media interviews, create content for communication platforms (including websites, social media, and game-day programs), and produce statistics, rosters, and recaps. Ensure communications comply with NCAA and Conference rules, provide input on publicity and marketing initiatives, and analyze statistical summaries for coaches, media, and conferences. Provide lead work direction to staff and student employees and collaborate with university communications. Job Duties: Create content for athletics website, social media, and printed/game-day programs; produce or oversee game-day materials; conduct interviews and background research; manage athletics social media accounts; develop and execute a social media calendar; collaborate with photographers, designers, and contributors for multimedia content; track performance using analytics; coordinate game-day operations (media credentialing, press box setup, technical logistics); ensure live statistics and event summaries are accurate; compile and distribute statistical reports; support real-time event coverage; oversee and train student assistants; troubleshoot during events; set up and monitor live streaming; coordinate with technical staff or vendors; provide real-time support for statistics, graphics, and AV feeds; ensure compliance with streaming requirements; serve as media liaison for inquiries; coordinate press conferences and media coverage; represent Athletics as on-site communications lead; promote athletic programs and provide input for publicity and branding; collaborate with stakeholders; ensure brand consistency; provide lead direction; recommend process improvements; support promotional campaigns; stay current with industry best practices and NCAA requirements; may obtain additional training; may support other areas within department as needed; the omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude related duties. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Experience — Two (2) years of relevant experience. An advanced degree may substitute for the required experience. Education — Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Additional experience may substitute for required education. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations, or closely related field. Relevant experience in a CSU or higher education setting. Prior experience in sports information at an NCAA Division II (or higher) program, including writing official athletics communications such as media press releases. Knowledge of NCAA, CCAA, CSU, and university reporting requirements. Experience with game-day marketing and promotions. Proficiency in sports information software (ARMS, Pixellot, BlueFrame, StatCrew, SIDEARM, The Automated Scorebook) as applicable. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Strong communications, media relations, and organizational skills; ability to lead others; ability to summarize statistics; familiarity with sports terminology; experience with digital media management tools; knowledge of NCAA rules; ability to develop and implement campaigns; project management and collaboration skills. Travel to Stockton/Turlock campus or third-party agencies may be required. May require work beyond regular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or emergencies, based on operational needs. License or Certifications
Valid California Driver’s License Salary and Benefits
Anticipated starting salary: $5,178 (step 1) per month plus benefits. Full range: $5,178 - $7,543 per month, subject to contract negotiations. Benefits include vacation, health, dental, vision, education fee waiver, PERS, and holidays. Details per CSU system. How to Apply
