Sports Information Director at Southwest Mississippi Community College
The Sports Information Director oversees all athletic communications, including game statistics, media relations, website and social media content, and promotional materials to enhance the visibility and reputation of the college's NJCAA sports programs. This position reports directly to the Athletic Director.
Responsibilities
Write and distribute press releases, game previews, recaps, and feature stories
Manage all Athletic Social Media pages in collaboration with designated coaches to ensure consistent messaging
Produce weekly news and updates for streaming platforms and other promotional material
Assist in the management and production of Bear TV, including brand management, advertising, promotions, and guidance for student workers
Organize media days, interviews, and press conferences
Coordinate game‑day operations
Develop strategic communications plans to increase program visibility
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Communication, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field (required)
Experience in sports information, athletic communication, or a graphics background (required)
Master’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field (preferred)
