The purpose of this position is to teach and/or assist in assigned dental assisting courses, labs, and clinic sites and maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community. Job Duties: Demonstrate skill, knowledge, and abilities in the teaching discipline. Maintain a classroom/lab/clinical environment that promotes teaching and learning. Make continuous efforts to advance the quality of instruction. Develop and use a variety of teaching methods and material to assist who have differing educational and experiential backgrounds in meeting the course outcomes. Evaluate and grade students to measure their progress toward achievement of stated course outcomes. Advise students throughout classroom/lab/clinical hours as needed. Review, evaluate, recommend, and effectively use student learning materials. Maintain appropriate professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community. Maintain professional standards of competence in the discipline and teaching methodology through professional development in accordance with CODA. Qualifications
Education Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree if instructing a lab or clinical. Bachelor’s degree if instructing a didactic course. Experience and Certifications Three (3) years of clinical experience in the field using four-handed dentistry skills. Current license as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) through the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE). Current credential as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) through the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) / Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification. Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds. Knowledge of and commitment to teaching strategies and methods which enhance student success. Knowledge of a learning college and/or knowledge of learning communities. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching at the secondary or college level. Experience teaching college level online courses and/or documented successful training in a college online learning management system (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas). Compliance and Equal Opportunity
