Work directly as a team member with other claims professionals, reporting to the WC Claims Manager; responsible for reducing exposure and mitigating costs. Manage all assigned claims to closure: monitor nurse case management activity; monitor interfaces with defense attorneys and claim adjusters; evaluate settlement authority proposals. Collaborate on action plans as needed and evaluate claim life exposure. Identify opportunities for quick and cost-effective claim mitigation and resolution; coordinate the return to work of disability claims; evaluate claim settlement proposals and provide recommendations. Oversee claim handling for multi-jurisdictions, ensuring quality assurance through monitoring for compliance with internal standards and conducting strategic reviews to identify trends, set mitigation goals and improve outcomes. Evaluate claim trending to determine focus and goals for mitigation. Responsible for managing financial impact of $4 million in losses. $60,000 Claim Settlement Authority. Assist WC Manager and Loss Control Director on special projects as needed. Qualifications Bachelors degree required with a minimum of 3-5 years of workers’ compensation experience. Working knowledge of workers’ compensation in various jurisdictions, especially Midwestern states and Texas preferred. Understanding of case reserving methodology. Excellent judgment to evaluate claim adjuster’s activities to mitigate claim expenses. Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Working knowledge of WC loss-sensitive insurance programs; ability to understand accounting reserves and payments. Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook). Effective communication skills; position is primarily telephone-based. Ability to manage multiple priorities. (If located in Philadelphia area, this role has a hybrid schedule with 3 days in office and 2 days flex-remote. Will consider candidates in other areas to work remotely.)
