Overview
Legal Assistant – Business (Minneapolis) at Taft Law (formerly Briggs and Morgan, P.A.). Taft is seeking a Legal Assistant to join the Business team in Minneapolis. Legal Assistants provide administrative support to attorneys and serve clients with a Client First philosophy. Responsibilities
Provides skilled, proactive administrative support to assigned attorneys and other team members in the Business Practice Group in the Minneapolis office. Edits and proofsreads complex documents, including proactive review for discrepancies/inconsistencies. Communicates clearly and professionally with attorneys and other members of the legal team on projects, needs, and transaction status. Works with the legal team and accounting to gather costs and time in preparation for closing. Supports the billing process, including initial review and comment on BIMs, editing BIMs, preparing and updating reports, and following up on client and attorney inquiries. Performs administrative duties such as proofreading, editing and releasing attorney time entries; calendaring and reporting Continuing Legal Education credits; handling reimbursements and related tasks. Prepares and reviews letters and memoranda according to Firm standards. Demonstrates client service orientation and attention to detail and numeric aptitude. Anticipates tasks/projects and proactively performs them; responds to requests with urgency and effective prioritization. Manages multiple priorities and communicates deadlines to the legal team. Creates, maintains, and retires files in accordance with Taft’s Information Governance Policy. Assists in managing client contacts, emails, print documents, and incoming/outgoing mail. May enter time into billing management software. Qualifications
2+ years Legal Assistant experience strongly preferred. Proficient command of the English language and standard grammar rules. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office; willingness to learn new software through internal training programs. Compensation and Benefits
Taft offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, long-term disability, flexible spending, 401K, paid time off, paid holidays, bonus, and more.
