Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 3016) at GameStop. The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, develops a sales culture, and provides outstanding guest service experiences. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, and promote guest loyalty. Support the shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns using the POS system accurately and efficiently, including providing receipts and ensuring high-quality guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies, procedures, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; document performance feedback in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed prior to opening or closing shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities. Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks and meals, and maintain optimal staffing for guest service. Manage payroll tasks, including approvals, time edits, and ensuring accurate compensation. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandise presentation per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders and ships daily as required. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; conduct safety checks and report concerns to the Store Manager. Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties. Conduct stock counts, restock shelves, and ensure products are organized and represented on the sales floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits according to guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies; record discrepancies and communicate with management; conduct merchandise counts as needed. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly; label boxes correctly with packing lists. Maintain associate and guest safety; address hazardous situations and report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records and ensure manuals are up to date; supervise and delegate tasks in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures and follow opening/closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; English proficiency required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Operate Point-of-Sale (POS) system; basic math and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork properly and follow written or verbal instructions. Remain reliable, trustworthy, and capable of handling pressure; problem-solve creatively. Able to work alone and stand/move for extended periods; able to lift up to 30 lbs and perform related physical tasks. Onboarding knowledge related to military bases (where applicable).
