Description Of Work Do you have a passion for culinary arts? Do you enjoy catering and being of service to others? The Division of Parks and Recreation is seeking a dynamic Food Services Supervisor I for the Vade Mecum Hotel at Hanging Rock State Park. The Food Service Supervisor I is responsible for assisting the Head Chef in day-to-day kitchen operations related to preparing food and beverages for visitors, while taking special care of dietary requests and maintaining food quality and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To

Training and supervising kitchen staff.

Training kitchen staff members and ensuring kitchen and dining areas meet health codes and sanitation requirements.

Delegate responsibility and plan, organize, and direct the work of several skilled and unskilled food service workers.

Work with other staff to ensure groups receive the best service and the kitchen operates at peak performance.

Apply knowledge of dietary requirements for a variety of special diets and allowable substitutions for items on diet menus.

Maintain high levels of cleanliness and safety in kitchen and dining facilities per health code standards.

Assist with inventory and kitchen equipment maintenance.

Position / Physical Requirements

Typical work schedule is varied with hours between Monday – Sunday, 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM; some weekend and holiday work required.

Must be able to stand for prolonged periods with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must be able to frequently exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects with or without reasonable accommodation.

Must be able to obtain and maintain CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification.

Qualification Requirements

Within 90 days of hire date, must have ability to obtain and maintain: DOA Fleet Safety Guidelines and a valid Driver's License to drive a state vehicle; ServSafe certification.

Management Preferences

Demonstrated experience utilizing cooking equipment in a commercial or institutional kitchen and cooking food in a large-scale operation.

Demonstrated experience managing and directing food service employees.

Demonstrated experience with food preparation and menu management.

Minimum Education And Experience High school or GED and one year of experience in the preparation and serving of food in large quantities in a commercial or institutional kitchen; education and/or experience directly related to the job and consistent with accepted practices or the trade equivalent to two years of experience in a commercial and/or institutional kitchen.
