Responsibilities

Proactively identify, qualify, and onboard reliable motor carriers to strategically expand our client’s network and capacity offerings.

Negotiate competitive rates with carriers based on current market trends, specific lane requirements, and internal margin goals to maximize profitability.

Maintain daily communication with carrier partners to determine equipment availability and secure the right assets for customer shipments (Truckload, LTL, Dray, etc.)

Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with key carrier partners, acting as a consistent, professional point of contact.

Accurately book and dispatch loads, ensuring all load requirements, compliance information, and operational details are precisely entered into the Transportation Management System (Ascend).

Serve as the primary contact for carriers regarding delays, service failures, or in-transit issues, providing timely and effective solutions to keep freight moving.

Reconcile final carrier invoices and accessorial charges against negotiated rate confirmations and Proof of Delivery to ensure absolute financial accuracy before payment processing.

Accurately prepare and submit carrier invoices and required documentation (BOL’s, etc.) in a timely manner.

Investigate and resolve all billing discrepancies, payment issues, and disputes directly with carrier partners.

Maintain meticulous records of all carrier contracts, rate sheets, and financial transactions within the TMS and accounting systems.

Ensure all documentation adheres to company policies, regulatory requirements, and contractual agreements.

Work closely with the Accounts Payable and Sales teams to streamline the financial cycle and promptly resolve any cross-departmental billing inquiries.

Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field is highly preferred.

1-3+ years of experience in Logistics, Transportation, Freight Brokerage, or a related field. Direct Carrier Sales experience is a requirement.

Exceptional negotiation skills coupled with clear and professional communication (written and verbal).

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly under pressure, with the ability to quickly assess situations and implement solutions.

A proven ability to manage complex financial data with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and demonstrated experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS, ideally Ascend).

Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, possesses a strong work ethic, and exhibits the ability to thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
