Assistant/Associate Professor of Math Education

Location: Summerville Campus Full/Part Time: Full Time Regular/Temporary: Regular Job Summary The Department of Teaching and Leading in the College of Education and Human Development at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor with a background in Mathematics Education (or a closely related field) for a full-time, non-tenure track position to play a crucial role in shaping the future of pre-service and in-service teacher candidates. The expected start date for this position is August 2026.

Teaching - 80%: Develop and teach undergraduate and graduate courses primarily focused on teaching mathematics to PK-12 students. Teach a 4-4 load, online and on-campus.

Research - 10%: Establish or continue a robust research agenda with potential national or international presence. Use quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods approaches.

Service - 10%: Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.

Responsibilities

Teaching and course development in mathematics education for PK-12 audiences.

Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching online and on-campus.

Engage in scholarly activities and build a research agenda.

Participate in department, college, university, and community service.

Required Qualifications Candidates should have earned a terminal degree from an accredited university in Mathematics Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Teaching and Learning, or a related educational field and have the potential to develop a rigorous line of research. Applicants who are ABD are encouraged to apply if they are expected to graduate in summer 2026.

Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member.

Associate Professor: Mid-level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or equivalent.

USG-required faculty qualifications: evidence of teaching ability; evidence of scholarly activity; successful experience or waived if just entering the profession; desirable personal qualities evaluated by interview, biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits This position is academic year-based (August–May) with a full-time equivalent of 1.0. Salary and benefits are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and subject to funds.

Benefits include medical, dental, vision, sick leave, retirement plans, tuition waiver, wellness options, and more. Eligible full-time employees may participate in the Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment.

Rank and salary are determined at hire based on experience, education, credentials, and market data. Advancement through the faculty ranks follows the annual Promotion and Tenure process (typically five-year increments).
