Responsibilities

Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations.

Develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming.

Ensure products are easy to see and buy, build sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, provide a clean, organized environment in which to shop, and grow guest loyalty and repeat business.

Supervise Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.

Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction and thank guests for shopping at GameStop; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.

Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.

Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system, including handling changes, providing receipts, and ensuring high-quality guest service.

Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.

Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, including new title reservations, trade-in, and Pro Rewards programs.

Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in company/store policies and procedures.

Observe associate performance, provide timely feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed, ensuring alignment with guest service expectations.

Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; regularly input feedback into the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.

Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing shifts; associates should know policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety practices, financial protocol, and ethical responsibilities.

Schedule store associates following guidelines, manage breaks and meals, and supervise staffing to maintain exceptional guest service at all times.

Approve payroll, enter time off, and verify compensation for all time worked.

Ensure store areas, including restrooms, are clean, organized, and merchandised per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.

Ensure Omni-Channel orders are fulfilled and shipped daily.

Protect company assets through effective inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages as needed and communicate concerns to the Store Manager.

Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties.

Perform inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise, and move products to ensure organized and alphabetized presentation.

Count, balance, and reconcile daily POS totals; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines.

Verify shipments for discrepancies and record discrepancies in the POS system; conduct inventories and communicate issues to management.

Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately, ensuring proper labeling and packing lists.

Maintain associate and guest safety; address potentially hazardous situations and report injuries per guidelines.

Maintain store records/files neatly; keep manuals up to date.

Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence.

Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures and to the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.

Qualifications

Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.

Must be at least 18 years old.

High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree with emphasis in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred.

At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred.

At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.

Video game knowledge preferred.

Flexibility to work extended hours/days, including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week.

Ability to manage pressure, be a problem solver, and maintain guest interactions.

Reliable, trustworthy, and able to use good judgment.

Able to work alone and stand/move for extended periods; physical ability to lift up to 30 lbs and reach overhead.

Compensation & Benefits Benefits: Full-time store positions at GameStop are eligible to participate in incentive programs, 401(k), paid time off, dental, vision, and health insurance. Positions may be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentives.

Compensation: $10.75 - $14.75
