Overview
Perry County is accepting applications for a First Assistant District Attorney in the District Attorney’s Office. This position is responsible to handle appeal cases arising out of the prosecution by the Perry County District Attorney. Responsibilities
Research legal issues relevant to individual cases Draft and edit legal motions, briefs, and written arguments Review case files, motions, briefs and/or appeals to prepare appeal defenses Argue cases before the Appellate Courts Attend trials, preliminary hearings, motions hearings, and other court appearances for purposes of prosecuting cases Prepare cases for trials and other court hearings, including negotiations with attorneys and interviewing witnesses Assist and advise police officers on the filing of charges and case investigation Prepare correspondence to attorneys and other court personnel including discovery packages Qualifications
Doctoral degree and a graduate of an accredited law school with 2 – 5 years of relevant experience Admitted into the Pennsylvania State Bar Compensation and Benefits
Compensation includes a starting salary of $34.83/hour with consideration for experience. Perry County employment offers a comprehensive benefit package that includes generous paid time off, a county retirement plan, and health, dental, and vision insurance after a 90-day probation period.
