Qualifications and Preferences Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Sciences, Occupational Safety Management, or related fields (preferred).
Advanced degree or additional certifications (preferred).
Certifications
Registered Environmental Manager (REM) or equivalent (required).
Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent (preferred).
Proficiency in ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

Environmental and Safety Manager
will oversee the development and implementation of safety, health, environmental, and sustainability programs at The Client’s Ontario, California facility. This role focuses on ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, fostering a strong safety culture, and advancing sustainability initiatives. The successful candidate will lead safety and environmental compliance efforts, manage regulatory relationships, and champion sustainability programs aligned with The Client’s goals for a better, shared future.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Culture Development
Foster a workplace environment that prioritizes employee safety through proactive initiatives and effective leadership.
Build and maintain a robust and engaged Safety Committee to address safety concerns and promote safe work practices.
Manage workers’ compensation cases, including communication with employees, medical professionals, and insurance administrators.
Oversee environmental compliance, including wastewater management, hazardous waste disposal, and air quality standards (SCAQMD).
Ensure adherence to storm-water, industrial hygiene, and other environmental regulatory requirements.
Track and manage the facility’s environmental impact, including water and energy use, recycling, and carbon emissions.
Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with EPA, Cal OSHA, and DTSC regulations.
Prepare for and manage plant emergency situations, including crisis response and communication with government agencies.
Develop and implement risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential safety and environmental hazards.
Sustainability Leadership
Lead initiatives to improve sustainability, including energy efficiency, water conservation, and waste reduction.
Monitor, track, and report on sustainability performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
