The ideal candidate must have strong experience in Teradata database installation, performance tuning, workload management, and advanced security and compliance.
Rate Range:
$45.45/hour to $60.61/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Teradata Database Administrator job responsibilities include:
Install, configure, and upgrade Teradata database systems, including software and utilities. Create and manage user accounts, roles, profiles, and access privileges. Perform routine data backups, manage recovery processes, and ensure data integrity. Monitor database health, performance metrics (CPU, I/O, space), and set up alerts. Diagnose and resolve common database-related issues such as connectivity or failed jobs. Optimize SQL queries, analyze explain plans, and implement techniques like join indexes and partitioning. Design and manage Teradata Workload Manager (TWM/TDWM) rules to prioritize queries and manage SLAs. Analyze usage patterns, forecast growth, and plan for upgrades. Develop and test disaster recovery strategies to ensure business continuity. Implement advanced security features (encryption, auditing, row-level security) and conduct security audits. Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 6+ years of experience in Teradata database administration. Strong understanding of Teradata architecture, performance tuning, and workload management. Experience with disaster recovery planning and testing. Knowledge of advanced security and compliance standards (e.g., PCI DSS, GDPR). Excellent troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration skills.
