Associate Attorney
to join its
Environmental and Water Law practice . This is an exciting opportunity to work with a collaborative and growing team representing
public agencies, agricultural interests, and tribal clients
on complex advisory, transactional, and litigation matters. About the Role
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of
three years of experience
handling
environmental and/or water law
issues for public and/or private clients. This position offers the chance to work on impactful projects across California involving water rights, environmental compliance, and public law governance. Key Responsibilities
Advise clients on environmental and water law issues, including regulatory compliance and permitting. Assist with discovery and pleadings in litigation and administrative proceedings (e.g., State Water Resources Control Board). Conduct thorough legal research and draft memoranda, opinions, and motions. Work closely with clients to provide practical, strategic guidance. Manage case assignments and deadlines with minimal supervision. Qualifications
Experience representing
public sector clients
(cities, counties, or special districts). Knowledge of the
Brown Act, Public Records Act,
and
Conflicts of Interest laws. Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to take ownership of matters and work both independently and collaboratively. Self-starter with strong follow-through, sound judgment, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Location
Sacramento, California Work Environment
