Accounting Clerk Job at Atlas Roofing Corporation in Meridian

Overview

Atlas Roofing Corporation, a privately owned company established in 1982, is an innovative, customer-oriented leading provider of high-performance roofing and construction materials. We are seeking an Accounting Clerk to support the Shingles, Underlayments & Ventilation manufacturing facility in Meridian, MS. The Accounting Clerk assists in the preparation, verification, and maintenance of a variety of general accounting functions. This position posts vendor and freight vouchers, invoice documents and other documents into the PeopleSoft financial ERP program.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clear and open communication with all departments.
• Verify raw material receipt listing report for accuracy.
• Review and match raw material receipts with invoices and process raw material invoices.
• Match raw material inbound freight invoices with receipts and process freight invoices.
• Process (MRO) accounts payable invoices.
• Review and process outbound freight invoices.
• Troubleshoot all invoice discrepancies.
• Cross train and provide backup to other positions in the accounting department.
• Answer incoming phone calls, respond to routine inquiries, and assist callers by obtaining requested information.
• Maintain and file accounting records using manual and electronic filing systems.

Experience

• Some accounting experience is a plus.
• Direct responsibility for accounts payable.

Education, Licenses & Certifications

• High school diploma required, with some college preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel and PeopleSoft or related ERP software.
• Use of 10-key calculator for mathematical processes.
• Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
• Ability to work with all levels of management.
• Confidential treatment of department information.
• Ability to discern, evaluate, and analyze deviations from normal operating parameters.
