Position Overview As a Senior Tax Accountant, you will play an integral role in providing comprehensive tax services to our diverse client base while working closely with senior staff and partners. Key Responsibilities Tax Preparation & Planning
Prepare federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, small businesses, partnerships, LLCs, and corporations
Assist in tax planning strategies to minimize client tax liabilities and achieve financial goals
Prepare quarterly tax estimates and tax projections for clients
Research tax issues and apply findings to client situations
Identify potential tax savings opportunities through careful analysis of client financial information
Prepare tax extensions and assist with IRS notice responses
Maintain awareness of changing tax laws and regulations affecting our clients
Client Service
Communicate with clients to gather tax information and documentation
Respond to client inquiries regarding tax matters promptly and professionally
Build relationships with clients through attentive service and technical expertise
Document client interactions and maintain organized electronic client files
Prepare clear explanations of tax positions and calculations for client understanding
Assist with client meetings when appropriate
Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information
Practice Support
Work collaboratively with firm partners and senior accountants
Assist with workflow management during tax season
Maintain accurate time records for client billing purposes
Support firm quality control procedures and best practices
Participate in firm training and professional development opportunities
Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives
Assist with special projects as assigned
Qualifications Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
4-7 years of tax preparation experience in public accounting
Strong knowledge of individual and small business taxation
Experience with tax preparation software (UltraTax, CCH Axcess, or similar)
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines
Professional demeanor and client service orientation
Preferred
CPA license or active CPA candidate
Experience with New York state and local tax matters
QuickBooks proficiency
Experience working in a small or mid-sized accounting practice
Prior experience serving Westchester County clients
Knowledge of trust and estate taxation
