About The Role As a Principal Functional Consultant, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of Workday's product solutions. You will apply your implementation expertise to clients, configure and test Workday solutions to meet their business requirements, and partner with stakeholders throughout the engagement.
Responsibilities
Lead implementation of the Workday HCM solution for the engagement.
Understand client business requirements, configure the solution, develop prototypes, and demonstrate configurations.
Assist clients in testing the solution and address issues.
Help convert legacy data into Workday.
Collaborate with the Integration team to configure and test integrations with third‑party solutions.
Apply Workday’s Implementation Methodology on all engagements.
Ensure the client utilizes proven Workday solutions.
Mentor and share product knowledge with other consultants.
About You Basic Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years experience implementing or supporting an HCM solution (HCM Core, Compensation, Benefits, or Recruiting).
Prior implementation experience with Workday (MUST).
Previous consulting experience with a consulting or software company (MUST).
Strong communication skills and ability to tailor style to diverse audiences.
Travel up to 30% of the time.
Other Qualifications
Workday HCM Certification (plus).
Ability to learn technology quickly through instruction and self‑training.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong relationship management and mentorship skills.
Strategic business consulting skills, including market analysis and financial acumen.
Workday Pay Transparency Statement The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role‑specific commission/bonus and annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer is based on multiple factors including geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need.
Primary Location: USA – IL – Home Office Chicago Metro
Primary Location Base Pay Range: $147,400 USD – $221,100 USD
Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $133,300 USD – $236,800 USD
Our Approach to Flexible Work We combine in‑person time and remote work. We require at least 50% of your time each quarter to be spent in the office or in the field, depending on the role. This provides flexibility while maintaining collaboration and community.
