We are seeking an energetic, customer‑oriented Generator Service Manager to serve as a technical resource and leader within our Operations Services Team. The position will help ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels around the critical infrastructure in Data Center Engineering Operations. The Generator Service Manager is responsible for the operation and maintenance of all generators within the data center space. This equipment supports mission‑critical servers and must maintain better than 99.999% up‑time.

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

Key job responsibilities

Manage all aspects of data center critical generator preventative maintenance, planned and unplanned repairs, and emergency response.

Act as an ambassador of safety and security ensuring the highest level of team compliance with our safe, secure culture.

Ensure all work performed within the data center is completed to the highest standard of quality eliminating impact to internal/external customers.

Manage teams of Generator Service Technicians in all facets of their responsibilities and career development.

Create and maintain generator maintenance schedules, and liaise with the maintenance scheduling team ensuring 100% generator maintenance completion and compliance.

Engage in improvement projects working with a variety of support teams and drive them from conception to completion.

Manage team budget and expenditures.

Actively involved in defining contract scopes and works with contracts partner team ensuring highest quality outcome in support of our customer.

Manage multiple competing projects across multiple sites simultaneously.

Interact with engineers, technicians, project managers and management on a routine basis.

This role requires supporting an on‑call rotation.

Basic Qualifications

2+ years of people management and team development experience

2+ years of work in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation experience

Experience in people management and team development

Experience operating a mission‑critical team or product

High school or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of work in a management position with 5 or more direct reports experience

5+ years of work in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation experience

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

Knowledge of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAC units

Experience in a management position with 5 or more direct reports
