Financial Regulatory & Technology Associate – Overview

Join to apply for the Financial Regulatory & Technology Associate role at DLA Piper. We are seeking an Associate with 2-4 years of experience to join our Financial Regulatory and Technology team. This role involves advising banks and other financial institutions and their investors on complex financial services issues, with a focus on regulatory compliance, applications and authorizations, litigation and investigations, and product development and delivery. Responsibilities

Represent clients in identifying the most effective and efficient way to deliver financial products and services, with requisite approvals or authorizations from the federal banking agencies (OCC, Federal Reserve, FDIC) and state banking regulators. Assist with investigation and enforcement matters relating to banks and other financial services companies. Provide compliance advice and support for new and existing bank regulatory programs, including regulatory compliance due diligence for target companies. Counsel clients on federal and state regulations impacting bank and non-bank financial services providers, including: Bank Holding Company Act National Bank Act Federal Reserve Act Federal Deposit Insurance Act Bank Secrecy Act UDAAP (Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices) Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) Assist with structures, applications and related materials, governance, board and management composition, and responses to agency questions for new bank chartering projects. Stay current on emerging regulatory trends and contribute to thought leadership through publications and client alerts. Desired Skills

Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Effective communicator with ability to advise colleagues and clients on complex regulatory issues. Can seek and accept instruction and guidance, while also willing and able to carry projects and assignments forward independently. Strong knowledge of, and interest in, financial services regulations. Ability to take ownership of assignments and issues. Minimum Education

JD Degree from an accredited law school. Certifications

Admitted to practice in the District of Columbia Minimum Years Of Experience

2 Direct and applicable AmLaw 100 firm and experience. Preferred Experience

Prior experience with OCC or the Federal Reserve welcome. Familiarity with compliance programs and product development and offering for financial institutions. Exposure to bank and financial institution regulators. Prior experience with litigation and internal investigations Essential Job Expectations

Physical Demands

Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $235,000 - $310,000 per year depending on the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications.
