As a Staff Data Scientist at Sam’s Club, you will bridge the gap between advanced AI capabilities and business strategy. In this role, you’ll lead efforts to design and apply AI solutions that deliver measurable impact across Asset Protection, Operations, and Product. While grounded in AI/ML innovation, this position focuses on translating complex technologies into practical business outcomes—improving efficiency, strengthening member experience, and driving smarter decision‑making. Translate business challenges into AI solutions: partner with stakeholders in Asset Protection, Operations, and Product to understand pain points and opportunities, then design AI approaches that deliver measurable improvements. Leverage AI for business impact: guide the use of AI agents, predictive modeling, and advanced analytics to improve decision‑making, streamline workflows, and reduce inefficiencies across supported areas. Integrate with enterprise systems: ensure AI initiatives connect seamlessly with existing tools, systems, and processes, enabling real‑world adoption and sustainable impact. Establish metrics, monitoring, and governance to ensure reliability, safety, and ethical use. Bridge technical and business teams through leadership, mentoring, and setting adoption standards. Build and stand up software and data products independently, demonstrating ownership of the full development lifecycle. Apply foundational machine learning techniques and a working understanding of Generative AI to solve complex, ambiguous problems creatively and effectively. Communicate clearly and confidently with both technical and non‑technical audiences, presenting problems, hypotheses, and solutions with clarity and business relevance. Transition from onboarding to leadership within 3–6 months, taking charge of identifying opportunities, shaping project roadmaps, and driving measurable impact. What You’ll Bring

Proven expertise in predictive analytics and machine learning algorithms to develop and validate advanced models. Proficiency in Python programming and data visualization tools such as Matplotlib, Plotly, Tableau, or PowerBI. Strong knowledge of data strategy, including data quality standards, governance, and scalable data ecosystems. Experience with data source identification across SQL and NoSQL databases and performing initial data quality assessments. Ability to translate complex business requirements into data‑driven solutions and communicate insights effectively to stakeholders. Familiarity with model deployment, monitoring, and iterative enhancement in production environments. Preferred Qualifications and Experience

5+ years of professional experience working as a Data Scientist. Professional work experience with Spark and dashboarding. Working knowledge and understanding of GenAI and AI solutions. Benefits
