Job Description This position is also responsible for the administrative functions that support clinical operations. This includes effectively managing the current outpatient psychiatry wait list ensuring we can get patients scheduled. This position will also work closely with departmental leadership on managing clinic closures within the system, working closely with those on the clinical support team including MA’s and other care providers.
Responsibilities
Assist patients with accessing community and government resources, including:
SSDI/SSI applications
Housing and homelessness support (shelters, supportive housing, housing assistance)
Transportation to appointments
Referrals for IOP, PHP, and residential programs
Eldercare and caregiving resources
Other social or logistical needs contributing to distress or treatment barriers
Help patients complete forms, make calls, and understand next steps in resource applications or referrals.
Serve as a liaison between patients, community agencies, and treatment programs to support connection and follow-through.
Follow up on referrals to confirm successful engagement and troubleshoot barriers.
Provide practical and motivational support to help patients stay engaged in care and resource plans.
Collaborate with psychiatrists and therapists to identify patients needing additional coordination or support.
Maintain timely, organized documentation of all patient interactions and resource activities in the EMR.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, psychology, social work, human development, family science, community science, public health, or a closely related field and 4 years of experience.
Experience engaging in community-centered research and/or services in an educational context.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree.
Senate Bill 1310 – Work Experience Substitution
SB 1310: Substitution of Work Experience for Postsecondary Education Requirements.
A public employer may include a postsecondary degree as a baseline requirement only as an alternative to the number of years of direct experience required, not to exceed:
(a) Two years of direct experience for an associate degree;
(b) Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree;
(c) Six years of direct experience for a master’s degree;
(d) Seven years of direct experience for a professional degree;
(e) Nine years of direct experience for a doctoral degree.
Related work experience may not substitute for any required licensure, certification, or registration required for the position of employment as established by the public employer and indicated in the advertised description of the position of employment.
Minimum Qualifications that require a high school diploma are exempt from SB 1310.
Working Conditions Environment – Typical indoor environment/office setting.
Physical Requirements – climbing, standing, stooping, and/or typing; Ability to lift up to 20lbs as needed.
Travel – Ability to travel to other USF campuses and/or other locations as requested.
