Part‑time adjunct faculty position teaching ESOL courses at Lone Star College – North Harris, Houston, TX. This role supports students through engaging instruction and individualized support, contributing to the college’s commitment to diversity and academic excellence.

Location: 2700 W. W. Thorne Drive, Houston, TX 77073 (North Harris Campus)
Position Type: Part‑time, semester‑by‑semester
Maximum: 5 classes per academic year
Credit: $55.44 per contact hour
Essential Job Functions
Teaches ESOL courses at a variety of times and locations.
Creates engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material.
Submits required college reports and forms promptly.
Utilizes a course syllabus for each course following institutional guidelines.
Provides individual advising to students before or after class or by appointment, via electronic communication or other appropriate methods.
Evaluates student progress and informs students in a timely manner.
Collaborates with students, colleagues, and the community to maintain professional relationships.
Attends required meetings, trainings, and orientations.
Performs other reasonable duties as assigned.

Demonstrated leadership and teamwork skills.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse groups.
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service‑learning, learning technologies, and adult learning methodologies.

Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and effective use of technology.
Ability to engage students with effective instructional strategies.
Physical Abilities Primarily sedentary work; may involve walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, or driving. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Schedule and Conditions
Uses PC workstation on LAN within a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone, and other standard office equipment.
Interfaces with internal and external contacts as needed.
Works in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab environment.
Hours vary by class time; instructors must be available to students outside of class instruction.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in TESOL/TESL/TEFL, Second Language Acquisition, Linguistics, or English where English is taught as a foreign language.
OR Bachelor’s with 12 hrs of coursework in TESOL/TESL/TEFL, Second Language Acquisition, and Linguistics.
OR Bachelor’s with secondary/postsecondary TEOL/TESL/TEFL certificate, CELTA, or DELTA.
OR Bachelor’s with 3 yrs of ESOL teaching experience at secondary/postsecondary level.
OR Bachelor’s with evidence of 12 hrs of coursework in at least 3 of: language teaching methodologies, linguistics, English structure, second‑language acquisition, intercultural communication, practicum experience.
Salary $55.44 per contact hour.
