Job Description
An elite, internationally recognized law firm with a Chambers & Partners‑ranked Tax practice is seeking associates (2nd‑8th year) to join its New York City office. This is an outstanding opportunity to work alongside a market‑leading team on sophisticated domestic and cross‑border tax matters across a range of industries and practice areas. Base pay range
$235,000.00/yr - $435,000.00/yr Responsibilities
Advise clients on a broad spectrum of U.S. and international tax matters, including transactional, controversy, and litigation work. Provide tax structuring advice in connection with M&A, private equity, real estate, structured finance, and capital markets transactions. Assist clients in responding to IRS audits and examinations, handling administrative appeals, and managing federal tax litigation. Conduct detailed legal research and draft memoranda, tax opinions, and other client deliverables. Collaborate closely with corporate, finance, and litigation teams to develop creative and practical tax solutions. Participate in client meetings and negotiations, offering strategic guidance on tax‑efficient structures and compliance issues. Engage with governmental agencies (IRS, Treasury, DOJ) as part of controversy and litigation matters. Qualifications
2–8 years of relevant experience in a top‑tier law firm, accounting firm, or government agency (IRS, Treasury, or DOJ). Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly valued: transactional tax, structured finance/CLOs, M&A, partnership and corporate tax, real estate and REITs, or tax controversy and litigation. Juris Doctor and New York Bar admission required; LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required. Strong academic credentials and superior analytical, drafting, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously and work both independently and collaboratively. Competitive compensation based on class year and experience.
